Data Visualisation & Echo – Conversation
Curious about what happens when artists and scientists come together? On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Maastricht University (UM) and the 65th anniversary of the Hustinx Foundation, two artists have been selected for a residency. During the PAS Festival, they will show part of their work and discuss their research during the residency at UM.
Sanne Vaassen was an Artist in Residence at M4I, the Maastricht MultiModal Molecular Imaging Institute, where research is conducted using advanced molecular imaging techniques. Researchers from different fields work together there to develop new techniques and apply them in both fundamental and practical research.
During her residency, Sanne explored whether the data collected from patients could be visualized in an alternative, more insightful way. To understand the processes behind collecting and processing this data, she shadowed various researchers at M4I. She talked with technicians who develop the equipment, visited the labs, and got an understanding of how data is processed and translated into language and images.
In a conversation with Barbara Strating, Sanne talks about her work and her experiences during her residency at M4I. There, she researched the process from collecting patient data to reaching a diagnosis, and the way this information is gathered, translated, and transmitted.
