A Vulnerable Start
Tim Wolfs, PhD associate professor of paediatrics & head of the laboratory of paediatrics
Most pregnancies go well and the new-born baby has a healthy start in life. But unfortunately, complications like premature birth and lack of oxygen can give a bad start, meaning a child has an increased risk of complaints later in life. Through research, we’re trying to gain a better understanding of why that’s the case and to do something about it.
